Christopher C. Houlette joined the firm in January of 2021. He is admitted to practice before the South Dakota Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota.

He received his juris doctorate degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1996. While at the University of South Dakota School of Law he did a clinical internship with Doyle and Kennedy Law Firm. He also served as President of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity during the 1995-1996 academic year. He graduated from Black Hills State University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Following his graduation from the University of South Dakota School of Law, Chris has worked as a Staff Attorney at Black Hills Legal Services, Division Counsel at the South Dakota Division of Insurance, Staff Attorney at South Dakota Advocacy Services, Staff Attorney at the South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources, and Staff Attorney with Disability Rights South Dakota. He has served as a member of the Civil Legal Aid Committee with the State Bar of South Dakota.

Chris is a member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus. He and his wife Denice have two sons, Justin, who is a student at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Brayden who is a student at Pierre T.F. Riggs High School. In his spare time Chris likes to fish, bicycle, travel, read, and spend time watching his sons’ activities.
